The Term Holocaust usually means an extensive human disaster. The Holocaust of the Jews was and remains a stain on the history of the world. So many lives taken and survivors scarred, by the horrid nightmare they had to face. Families were seperated and destroyed, children forced to work and throw away their youth, people with their very hope stolen from them enslaved like rats in facilities, nothing was good to the millions of humans taken and dehumanized by the Nazis and anti-semitists.
The Holocaust blows my mind, I dont understand how so many horrible things can be done to others by other human beings that went home to their families and kissed their children, while hours earlier they had murdered and brutiliezed Jews and other Undesirables. How did the officers and guards sleep at night? How did they stay sain after witnessing and also smelling all the flesh and death in those camps? How could a person deal with all the death and misery around them at work and then go home and sleep at night?
I cant imagine any of the horrifying images that went on. There is no way I could go home and sleep at night with the guilt that should be felt. Doctors took people and committed painful and goury expiriments on them. Many people women, men, and children, had to face and deal with pain from expiriments. Dr. Mengele did many expiriments on thousands of people children included.
I feel that the Holocaust was a dark time that should not be forgotten.

The Author of the novel Night
Elie Wiesel is a survivor of the Holocaust. Wiesel went through tremendious agony and horror at an early age, the Nazis offenders took the lives of many of his family members and friends. He is still alive and filled with the memories of the tragedy. The novel Night is a look into the life of Elie Wiesel, the readers get to expirience to a smaller magnitude, what he felt and went through at the hands of the Nazis. I believe Mr. Wiesel wrote his novel so people would never forget the Holocaust. People will always remember the struggle that the Nazis put the Jewish people through.
Symbolism: Darkness
"Yet another last night. The last night at home, the last night in the ghetto, the last night in the train, and, now, the last night in Buna. How much longer were our lives to be dragged out from one 'last night' to another?" Chapter 5, pg. 79
The use of darkness in the novel Night by Elie Wiesel represents the horrible situation Elie was in. How he was losing faith and accusing God. Elie wondered how much longer his life was going to be dragged out. Every time darkness or night is brought up bad things happen to the characters. Elie use to have strong faith and now his faith is being questioned, due to the harsh conditons he is going through. He refers to himself as the "accuser", he believes in God but accuses him of not keeping his promise to the Jewish people. Darkness is the disturbing situation that Elie went through, his lose of faith, the camp, his father, and his life.
